Matthew is the founder and CEO of Oasis Capital Ghana Limited, a private equity fund management firm based in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire and focusing on SMEs in West Africa. He has more than 20 years investment banking experience, 16 years of which has been spent in venture capital and private equity industry in Africa. Prior to establishing Oasis Capital Ghana in 2010, Matthew was the Country Director of GroFin Ghana Limited, a pan-African SME development and finance company that has operations in eight countries in Africa. He was also a member of the Investment Committee of GroFin Africa Fund (a US$170 million SME fund based in Mauritius) and reviewed transactions from several countries across Africa, including; Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.Before joining GroFin Ghana in 2008, Matthew worked with Fidelity Capital Partners Limited, a private equity firm based in Accra as an Investment Manager. He spent over 9 years with Fidelity Group working with the Group’s credit, corporate finance and private equity practice. He serves on the board of several SME companies in Ghana and has significant insight on how to make governance work for SME clients. Matthew has been involved in small business development in Ghana and other parts of Africa and has also given lectures on SMEs in some Universities and Colleges in Ghana and abroad.Matthew holds a BSc degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ghana Business School, Ghana and an MBA from The Leicester Business School, De Montfort University, Leicester, UK.
