John Bentum is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants(ACCA) and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana. He holds MBA inFinance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).He started his career as an audit trainee at KPMG Ghana in 2007 and exited as a supervisor in2013 with multi-sectoral experiences in industries in the Banking, Shipping, Manufacturing,Brewery etc.He practiced investment banking for 4 years undertaking due diligence on several bankswithin Ghana, South Africa, Mozambique and Tanzania as well as playing key roles invarious fund-raising campaigns for clients.He joined the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2017 with responsibilities for:reviewing offer documents in respect of (securities issuances, introductory listings, takeoversand mergers); reviewing audited annual reports and quarterly reports of Issuers; conductinginvestigations into regulatory breaches, accounting malpractices; among others. John alsoserves on several Committees within the SEC including the Guidelines Drafting and ReviewCommittee; Team lead, sustainable finance, Technical member of Risk-Based-SupervisionTransitional Team, Technical member of Fund Management revocation and bailoutimplementation.In summary John is highly versatile with practical working experiences spanning over 17years in External Audits, Financial Reporting, Investment Banking, Asset Management andCapital Market Regulation.
