Essie Anno Sackey

Board Member IIGh & Director and shareholder of Century Aviation Ltd

Essie is a director and shareholder of Century Aviation Ltd, a company providing helicopter services to the Oil & Gas industry and Mining industry. Essie is proud to be a co-founder of Legacy Girls College, the first private girls senior secondary boarding school in Ghana. The school was set up to provide 21st Century education, nurturing young girls to become agents of change in whatever area they choose as future leaders in the society.

One of Essie’s passions is the development and empowerment of women at all stages of their lives. She co-founded EOS Foundation, an NGO set up to provide seed capital, training and development for women at the very basic levels.

Between 2007-2009 she worked as Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company. During her tenure she saw the renovations of the departure hall at the international airport to improve customer experience and upgrades of the Takoradi and Tamale Airport in time for the Africa Cup in 2008. She also participated in the intense arrangements for the visit of President Obama in 2009.

She joined British Airways in 1989 as Sales Specialist, rising to become the first Ghanaian Country Manager. A position she held until 2007.

Essie is a product of Wesley Girls High School, Cape Coast, from where she proceeded to the University of Ghana, Legon. She was awarded a BA degree in Economics and Statistics. She studied for and obtained an MBA from the Graduate School of Management Brigham Young University, Utah, USA.
